This happens to me sometimes too. I find I'm editing myself as I'm trying to get the words out. I so my best to silence that and press on, but it's challenging!
I totally agree with Sara. Guess the only thing that works for me is the thought, I'll be rewriting anyway, so I may as well crack on. Of course this only works intermittently!
This really helps. I've been in a stalled space, mostly because of travel, but also because I am up against the limit of my abilities (or at least the limit of what I've done before), and I'm afraid to write what comes next.
I find my bravado is strongest at the idea stage; the withdrawal happens during the writing.
